On August 9, 2025, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation(MHESI) Fair the Thailand Science and Technology Fair 2025 (NST Fair 2025) held its grand opening in Bangkok. Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of MHESI, attended the opening ceremony and presented the Prime Minister’s Science Award. As a highlight of the Thailand Tech Festival, the fair is organized by MHESI and hosted by the National Science Museum(NSM) of Thailand. It is also the largest and most influential annual science and technology event in Thailand.
Located at the heart of the International Hall, the China Pavilion was jointly organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand and the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), and hosted by Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES). Under the theme “Brings Back Blue Skies and Clear Waters”, CRAES systematically displayed the latest achievements in China's ecological civilization development and eco-environmental technologies. The pavilion also served as a significant window for China-Thailand scientific and technological cooperation.
The pavilion comprehensively presented the remarkable results of the Yangtze River ecological conservation and China's air pollution control through diverse approaches, including a comparative display of colors from a decade's worth of China's atmospheric PM2.5 sampling filters, a sand table model of the Yangtze River, and educational videos on ecological and environmental protection. It also featured the first centralized exhibition of advanced, independently developed eco-environmental monitoring instruments to the Thai public, such as automated water quality analyzers and online air quality monitoring equipment, drawing large crowds of visitors to engage with the exhibits.
The venue featured a shared reading area with free access to popular science books on environmental protection. Interactive activities—such as quiz games, the ancient Chinese game of Touhu (pitch-pot), and Hanfu (traditional Chinese dressing)—engaged Thai youth in a lively atmosphere, allowing them to learn about China's environmental technologies and traditional culture while offering opportunities to receive distinctive Chinese-themed souvenirs.
Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol made a special visit to the China Pavilion. She highly commended China's achievements in ecological and environmental protection and expressed her expectation for further deepening China-Thailand cooperation in environmental science and technology to jointly promote regional green development. Representatives from CRAES's partners in Thailand, including the Clean Air Fund, the Thai-Sino Association of Sciences and Technology, and the Federation of Thai Industries, also visited the pavilion.
The China Pavilion will remain open until August 17 and is expected to receive over 100,000 visitors from various sectors in Thailand. CRAES will continue to leverage its strengths as a national-level eco-environmental research institution to effectively showcase China's success in promoting ecological civilization and contribute to building a China-Thailand green community with a shared future.
